Generational Art

Generation Art is a pilot project currently under development. Research demonstrates positive outcomes of intergenerational programs and art therapy. Generation Art will provide high school students an opportunity to develop social skills through intergenerational art projects with seniors. Students will learn critical life skills that will facilitate a successful future for students who might otherwise find themselves left behind and at an increased risk for being involved in anti-social activities. Benefits of Intergenerational Programs for youth include enhanced social skills, improved academic performance, decreased drug use, and increased stability. For older adults, benefits observed include enhanced socialization, learning stimulation, increased emotional support, and improved health. The community benefits as well as intergeneration programs bring together diverse groups and networks, multiply human resources, save resources as they maximize funding dollars.
